Meet Project Manager, Ainsley Mildenhall

May 26, 2023 | Hemisphere, Meet the team

Our Hemisphere team are curious and creative. We love working with our clients, partners and associates to win heads and hearts. Meet the team behind the magic.

What’s your story?

I’ve lived in Wellington my entire life. It’s such a great little city and I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. Growing up, my mum looked after local kids as well as three of her own, so it was always a busy household. For this reason alone, I’d consider myself an expert in hiding things so nosy sisters and curious toddlers can’t find them!

After I finished high school, I felt like I’m sure a lot of people did at that age – confused and not sure what the next chapter was for me. I worked as a checkout supervisor for a couple of years, saving money and travelling to places such as America, Rarotonga, and Australia. As a lost girl not knowing what I wanted to do I trusted that when the time was right the universe would give me a sign, and what would you know, it did.

I got a call from Hemisphere (GSL Promotus at the time) saying a receptionist role had opened up and it was a great chance to learn on the job and be exposed to the big world of marketing. I embraced the opportunity with open arms and am so glad I did as I found something I’m really passionate about.

While I have only been in the industry for four years, I work alongside many experienced and passionate individuals at Hemisphere who inspire me. I love that I get the chance to channel my creative side and there is always something new and exciting to learn about.

What are you passionate about in your work?

I love meeting new people, which you’re consistently doing in this role. For me, it’s exciting to have people from different fields with unique specialties working together to create a campaign, big or small. I love seeing thoughts on paper come to life in the form of radio, photography, video, digital – the list goes on. I always have a little geek-out moment when I see something I’ve worked on in the wild. It gives me a real sense of pride and knowing what it took to get there makes it all the more special.

What did you want to do when you were small?

Everyone in the office knows I love animals, so it’s probably no surprise that I wanted to be a vet when I was younger. The only reason I never went down that career path was I realised I wouldn’t be able to help every animal. Not being able to save every wee critter would break my heart, and I would be a sobbing mess every time I saw a sick fur baby. I’d say that’s probably not a great quality for a vet to have.

What do you do at Hemisphere?

I’ve managed to wear a few hats in the office. In 2019, I joined the team as the receptionist, learning the ropes of the industry and supporting the team with client projects until I was ready to move into project delivery. A few years down the line, I’m thrilled to have stepped into my current role as Project Manager. This gives me the chance to have my hand in a lot of different aspects of marketing strategy, creative, social, photoshoots and video shoot. Every day is something new!

What do you do outside of Hemisphere life?

When I’m not working at Hemisphere, I enjoy spending time with my loved ones, including our one-year-old Golden Retriever puppy. She requires a lot of attention, or else she’s bound to create mischief. As a sports enthusiast, I am both a player and spectator. Best believe during the NFL and NBA seasons I’ll be tucked away in the corner at lunch watching a game of sorts. On Saturdays, you can find me at the courts playing netball. I’ve been playing since I was five years old, and my love for the sport continues to grow with every game.

Recently, I’ve started exploring my inner chef, so every weekend, I challenge myself to create new recipes and meals for the upcoming week. As mentioned before, I have a passion for animals. My family used to foster kittens when I was a kid so I’d love to do that again in the future.
