He wāhi haumaru: Creating safe spaces for whānau
For more than a decade, Breastfeeding New Zealand has been a supportive and engaging community for whānau throughout their breastfeeding journey. So, when we were asked to reimagine their identity, it was critical we that we brought our A-game. To create a safe and inclusive space for whānau to connect.
Our answer? He Wāhi Haumaru. A platform with whānau and community at the centre of the kaupapa, and a distinctly Māori design to convey these ideas and feelings. The name embodies a safe and caring space. Complemented by the tohu, representing a parent and child wrapped in harakeke, which symbolises the embrace and interconnectedness of the community.
Connecting across social media, and from hospitals to marae, He Wāhi Haumaru is something we’re very proud to support. As they build on this momentum, we’re excited to see what the future holds in this space.
