Connecting with the metaverse
Massey University’s Shore and Whāriki Research Centre engaged us to get rangatahi registered for an in-person study group exploring alcohol advertising and messaging in the Metaverse.
We designed three avatars each placed within a vibrant, futuristic metaverse environment. The ads appeared across digital display, on-pause VOD screens, social media statics, and videos. For an immersive ad experience, the videos featured an AI voice reminiscent of those you’d hear in the metaverse.
We used geo-targeting technology to ensure ads only reached rangatahi within a 30km radius of campus. Specific targeting layers were also applied to reach rangatahi with interests related to the metaverse and we used geo-fencing technology to reach rangatahi who attended relevant events.
The results exceeded expectations, with registrations at 40% more than the target.
