Understanding alcohol advertising in the metaverse
We love advertising. The creativity, the science, it’s what makes us tick at Hemisphere. But we know there’s a dark side too. We don’t promote fast food, gambling or alcohol. We know some advertising can be harmful for whānau. When SHORE and Whariki, a Massey University research committee, asked us to help them understand how alcohol is being promoted to rangatahi in the Metaverse, we jumped right in.
Our job was to design an impactful and appealing campaign to recruit young people for their research. Through our integrated creative and digital solutions, SHORE and Whariki surpassed their required engagement numbers and delivered some extremely compelling research, as well as being named a finalist at the 2024 IAB NZ Digital Advertising awards.
